Daniil Medvedev regained first place in the ATP rankings from Novak Djokovic on Monday, despite not having won a single tournament since the US Open last year.

Today, however, he had the chance to take home his first tournament in 2022, when he would play the final in German Halle against the Pole Hubert Hurkacz.

Hurkacz twelfth in the rankings

But he did not take that chance.

Hurkacz was the stability himself and offered very few easy misses, while Medvedev mixed and gave all the more.

25-year-old Hurkacz, who is ranked twelfth in the world, won the first set with a clear 6-1, and then broke Medvedev's serve directly in the second set as well.

Medvedev played slightly better in the second set, but never managed to break back.

On the third match ball, he managed to decide with a volley in front of the net.

He thus won the set 6-4 and was able to rejoice over his first title of the year.
