The Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced today, Sunday, that it will hold a ceremony to announce the best African player, along with many other awards, on 21 July in Morocco.

The CAF Awards ceremony will return after a two-year hiatus due to the Corona virus pandemic, as the previous version was held in Hurghada, Egypt, and then Senegalese Sadio Mane won the best player award.

CAF said that the winners of the awards ceremony will be chosen by a vote of the captains and coaches of the African teams, as well as some journalists and a group of experts and legends of the continent.

The evaluation will be based on performance during the period from September 2021 to June 2022, and the ceremony will be held on the sidelines of the Women's Nations Cup, which will be held in Morocco next July.

CAF has not announced the list of candidates, but it is widely expected that the competition for the title of best player will be between the Egyptian Mohamed Salah, who shared the top scorer in the English Premier League, his colleague Mane, the Nations Cup winner with Senegal and the Algerian Riyad Mahrez, the league champion with Manchester City.

There will be other awards such as the best female player, the best player in the continent, the best young player, the best team, the best coach, the best team and the best goal.
