Find out the reasons why Barack Obama congratulated a Tunisian team that won a basketball championship

Former US President Barack Obama, who is fond of basketball, praised the inspiring performance and victory of the Tunisian team Ittihad Monastir, which won the African Basketball Association title.

"Congratulations to the Monastir Federation for winning the African Basketball League, you have inspired countless young people in Africa and around the world with your resolve and determination this season," Obama wrote in a tweet on his Twitter account.

Obama is a strategic partner of the African Basketball League by helping to advance social responsibility efforts within the continent.

The former US president owns the Obama Youth and Leaders Foundation in Africa to help young Africans residing on the continent prepare for leadership positions by providing training, networking, and skills-building opportunities.

Monastir won the first African title in his record by defeating Petro Atletico of Angola in the Rwandan capital Kigali last May 83/72.

The American player, who is active in the team, Michael Dixon, was crowned the best player of the match after scoring 21 points, and Monastir will play in the next edition of the Intercontinental Basketball Championship.

"Exciting to see the game we all love spreading across the Continent," Obama tweeted.
