They throw themselves into the absolute elite, and are part of a Swedish golden athletics generation that is flourishing at the same time.

Daniel Ståhl, reigning world and Olympic champion in discus - and constantly by his side Simon Pettersson who took sensational silver in Tokyo.

They train together, travel together, compete together, and live together in hotels.

Ståhl and Pettersson are a close-knit duo who are also each other's biggest competitors.

- It is an individual sport, we compete against each other.

But if you are two from the same country, you still become a little team against the others.

It's just a plus for both of us, says Simon Pettersson to SVT Sport.

"Absolutely unique"

Federation captain Kajsa Bergqvist is amazed at how the discus duo succeeds with their combined relationship.

- I think it is something completely unique, I can not understand it.

But that's because they are such nice people and treat each other to success, says Bergqvist.

Ståhl and Pettersson have flourished together - but in the competition relationship there has always been a clear first in Daniel and second in Simon.

"A game angle"

- What would Simon Pettersson be without Daniel Ståhl?

He would never be as good, says Ståhls and Pettersson's coach Vésteinn Hafsteinsson.

Would Daniel be as good without Simon?

- No.

Simon is a workhorse and Daniel is a wasteland and I think that is a good combination.

Daniel trains better to catch up with Simon's incredible work ability.
