The Iraqis bid farewell to the sheikh of commentators and the former president of the Football Association, Muayyad Al-Badri, at the age of 88, who died in a hospital in Scotland in the north of the United Kingdom, after a long struggle with illness, in an atmosphere of deep sadness for a character associated with Iraqi emotion and memory.

Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi offered his condolences on the departure of Al-Badri, directing the transfer of his body to the country.

The Ministry of Youth and Sports stated in a statement that Al-Kazemi sent his condolences and condolences on the death of Al-Badri, who passed away after a life full of giving and work in the service of the country and the sports community.

The statement added, "Al-Kazemi directed that the body of the deceased be transferred to Baghdad and that a solemn official funeral ceremonies be held befitting his name, stature, and rich history."

Al-Kazemi expressed great sadness and deep sympathy for "the departure of this social, national and sports figure, who represented a model of giving and excellence," noting that "the nation lost, with his departure, one of its influential leadership, sports and social figures."

For his part, Zaydoun Al-Badri (son of the deceased) extended thanks, appreciation and gratitude to Al-Kazemi and the Minister of Youth and Sports Captain Adnan Darjal for this kind gesture, recalling that the will of the late confirmed that the burial and funeral ceremonies take place in the place where God dies.

Yesterday, Saturday, the Iraqi Football Association announced three days of mourning for the soul of the former president of the Federation.

The federation said in a statement, "The players in all the competitions held by the federation this week will wear black armbands in mourning for the death of Al-Badri."

Al-Badri, who was born in Baghdad in 1934, is considered one of the most prominent sports commentators in the country, as many Iraqis remember his voice, which they said "enjoys their ears."

Al-Badri - who obtained a diploma in physical education in 1957 in Baghdad and a bachelor's degree in 1959 and a master's degree from America in 1960 - is considered the first sports commentator in Iraq, and he worked in newspapers and sports programs more than 4 decades ago.

He also worked as a professor at the College of Physical Education in 1963 in Baghdad, and as Director General of the Ministry of Youth in 1967, Secretary General of the Football Association for 15 years, and President of the Federation in 1977, and outside Iraq he worked as General Manager of the Arab Club in Qatar in 1998.

Various Iraqi circles mourned the departure of Al-Badri, recalling his history of achievements and his appearances on the screen in the Sports in a Week program, which he presented every Tuesday for 30 years, in addition to his famous comments on the team’s goals and his presidency of the Football Association.
