What drives Mane to leave for Bayern?

Liverpool legend explains!

Former Irish football star Robbie Keane has asked why any player would leave Liverpool in order to join Bayern Munich.

Kane's question comes amid strong controversy over the possibility of Senegalese striker Sadio Mane moving from Liverpool to Bayern this summer.

Kane, the former Liverpool star, told Stats Perform: "If Mane leaves Liverpool, it will be a great loss for the team for sure... If these rumors are true, and Mane moves to Bayern Munich, it will be a great deal for the German club. It seems that Bayern He is on the verge of losing his striker, Robert Lewandowski."

"I don't really see a reason for you to leave Liverpool to Bayern Munich at this time, especially when you have a coach like Jurgen Klopp, and what the team is currently providing by winning two titles and it could have become four titles in the past season," Kane said.

He added, "I was amazed at this. He is a great player. I am sure that any team that goes to him will be happy with this player."

Mane scored 90 goals in 196 matches with Liverpool in the Premier League since he joined the team at the beginning of the 2016/2017 season from Southampton.

During this period, only Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy, Liverpool striker Mohamed Salah (118 goals) and Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane (134 goals), were surpassed by Mane in the English Premier League.

It is certain that Mane's departure from Liverpool will leave a huge void that needs to be filled, but Liverpool seems close to contracting Darwin Nunez, the Benfica striker, as a possible alternative to Mane.

Nunez scored 48 goals in 85 matches with Benfica in all competitions, and was a starter in 61 of those matches.

His average goal is 2.1 goals every 90 minutes in the Portuguese league matches last season.

On the other hand, the average score for Mane in the English Premier League is 0.5 goals every 90 minutes, taking into account the difference in the strength of the two competitions.

Kane spent the 2008-2009 season with Liverpool.

The former player believes Nunez would give Liverpool something a little different if the deal with Benfica were to go through.

"I've seen him (Nunez) a few times, and I think he's a good player," Kane said. "He's still young and has a spearhead that Liverpool have missed over the years."

He added: "Liverpool has Roberto Firmino, of course. But Firmino is falling back to play the role of playmaker and outright striker. Liverpool does not have an outright spearhead."
