The death of an Egyptian basketball player on the field during the African Championship in Kenya
The African Universities Basketball Championship witnessed today a tragic accident for Egyptian sports, where the Egyptian player Karim Abu Qura breathed his last during his participation in the Egyptian team, which is represented in the tournament by the Egyptian University (AUC), and the championship competitions are currently being hosted by Kenya.
The accident left a general sadness in the circles of the championship, especially among his colleagues and in basketball and Egyptian sports in general, as the player started naturally in the first half of the match, then the shock came when he suddenly fell to the ground, as a result of a sudden heart attack.
In the details of the accident, the Egyptian newspaper Al-Ahram quoted a security official during the match, saying: “The 20-year-old player fell on his back during the match. The paramedics moved quickly to try to save him, and they took the player to the nearest hospital from the stadium, and the doctors did their best, but unfortunately, , Died".
The newspaper stated that coordination is being carried out with Egyptian embassy officials in Kenya in order to transfer the player's body to Cairo today.
