On the 9th, the ISU = International Skating Union decided to reduce the number of performance composition points that evaluate the expressiveness of athletes from the current five to three among the scoring items for figure skating.

The International Skating Union discussed changes to the scoring standards for figure skating at a general meeting held in Phuket, Thailand on the 9th.

Figure skating

competes with a score that is the sum of two points: ▽

"technical points" that evaluate jumps, spins, steps, etc., and

"acting composition points" that evaluate players' expressiveness .

As a result, among the scoring items of the acting composition points, the proposal to reduce the current 5 to 3 by incorporating ▼

the connection between techniques and

▼ the interpretation of music into

other scoring items was approved.

The International Skating Union cites it as a reason to avoid duplication of evaluation criteria and to simplify it, and the score distribution with technical points is almost the same.
