Esperance separates from coach Jaidi after bid farewell to the Tunisian Cup

Tunisia's Esperance club said it separated from coach Radhi Jaidi by mutual consent yesterday, after the sudden exit from the Tunisian Cup.

Esperance bid farewell to the tournament after losing 6-5 on penalties to Hilal Masaken, the second-tier rival, after the original and extra time ended with a 1-1 draw.

"It was agreed between the Tunisian sports club Esperance and coach Radhi Jaidi to end the contract between the two parties," Esperance, the record holder in the Tunisian Cup with 14 titles, added in a statement on Facebook.

Jaidi, the former Esperance defender, took over the team's training following the departure of Mouin Chabani before the start of the current season.

Esperance did not clarify the identity of the next coach before the last three rounds of the league crowning stage.

Esperance leads the coronation stage with 17 points, two ahead of USM Monastir, after the team lost five points in the last two matches.

Esperance has three matches against Africain, Etoile du Sahel and Ittihad Ben Gardane.

The team was eliminated from the African Champions League from the quarter-finals after losing 1-0 at home to Algeria's ES Setif, following a 0-0 draw in the first leg.
