Youssoufa Moukoko gave away his jersey to a small Polish fan, and then the Germany U21 goalscorer was happy to be enjoying a few days off.

"I laugh all the time because it feels so good.

I'm happy to score goals.

That's what strikers are for," said the 17-year-old exceptional talent from Borussia Dortmund after his next goal show in DFB dress, which is already raising hopes for the 2023 European Championship.

Moukoko scored both of Germany's goals in the 2-1 win in Poland at the end of the European Championship qualifiers, bringing the total to six goals in just four games for the U21s.

A rate that reminded Rene Adler of another young striker from Dortmund in the TV studio.

"Youssoufa doesn't think too much in front of goal.

That's his great strength - a bit like Haaland," said the former national goalkeeper at ProSieben Maxx.

"Just Shoot"

Moukoko first scored in Lodz with his left – then with his right.

"I learned to shoot with my right hand.

From time to time I think to myself: I have nothing to lose, just shoot.

And things go in like that," said the attacker on DFB-TV.

It was anything but smooth for Moukoko last season, at BVB he only scored two goals in 16 league appearances due to injuries.

In total, he was only on the pitch for 210 minutes in the Bundesliga.

A possible departure could now be prevented by returning coach Edin Terzic, under whom Moukoko became the youngest Bundesliga goalscorer at the end of 2020.

DFB coach Antonio Di Salvo also praised "Mouki" extensively, but without becoming euphoric.

"We'd all do well to be patient with him.

Above all, you have to be patient.

He plays in a top club, the competition is very big," said Di Salvo. Moukoko had to "improve a lot of things".

The same goes for the rest of the team, who now have a year to prepare for defending their titles in Romania and Georgia.

His team "showed heart and character" in Poland, said Di Salvo.

And that at a time when others “put their feet up on vacation and lie on the beach.”

"Next year I want to attack"

Moukoko is now also looking forward to a break.

"Now we can fly home nicely," said the goalscorer and announced on the Sky microphone: "Next year I want to attack."

It remains to be seen whether he can become the successor to Haaland, who has migrated to Manchester City, in Dortmund.

As far as the record in the U21 national team is concerned, he is already a good deal ahead of the Norwegian: Haaland did not score a single goal in three games for his home country.
