The second death within days in Britain's most dangerous motorcycle championship

Side-seat motorcycle rider Olivier Lavorel died of his injuries yesterday at the Isle of Man TT race in Britain, considered the most dangerous motorcycle race in the world, becoming the second rider to die in this year's edition in just days.

Organizers said the 35-year-old French rider died in an accident on the first lap of the first race of this type of bike.

The race was stopped and not completed after the accident.

Lavorel participated for the first time in the TT races, accompanied by his compatriot Cesar Chanel, who was flown to a hospital in Liverpool in a critical condition.

British rider Mark Purslow, 29, died in qualifying for the race on Wednesday after an accident.

The race was held this year after a two-year hiatus due to the coronavirus pandemic, the longest hiatus since World War II.

The race has been held on the northwest coast of England since 1907 and is considered one of the most dangerous races in motorsport, with 262 participants dying.
