The British newspaper, "The Mirror", said that Mohamed Salah promised Barcelona a sudden move to Camp Nou when his contract with Liverpool expires next summer.

The Catalan giant is keen to compete for all the titles available next season, after lean years.

The Blaugrana is still plagued by financial problems, but they plan to renew their team in a major way.

According to the British newspaper, Barca contacted Salah, and this communication is a major reason why he has not signed a new contract with the Reds so far.

Salah told his friends that he was ready to extend his contract on Merseyside, but he postponed his decision after hearing about Barcelona's interest.

The Egyptian international helped Liverpool occupy the second place in the English Premier League, and also contributed to winning the League and FA Cups.

He also won the Golden Boot as the Premier League's top scorer with 23 goals, and also topped the list of goal makers in the English Championship.

Despite the uncertainty surrounding his future, Salah is committed to Liverpool next season, and confirmed his position after the Champions League final.

"I don't want to talk about the contract now, I will stay next season for sure, that's clear," he said.

Salah is not the only Liverpool striker linked with a move away from Anfield;

Sadio Mane is expected to join Bayern Munich and replace Robert Lewandowski, who, ironically, will move to Barcelona.

Mane said he will listen to his countrymen's opinions when he makes his own decisions about his future.

Speaking ahead of Senegal's African Nations Cup qualifier against Benin on Saturday, Mane told reporters that he had read an online poll showing that most of his countrymen support his move this summer.

The 30-year-old added, "Like everyone, I'm on social media and I follow the comments. Don't 60-70% of Senegalese want me to leave Liverpool? I'll do what they want, we'll see soon, don't rush things, because we'll see this together, we'll know." That's in the future."
