The Egyptian Football Association announced that Egypt and Al-Ahly goalkeeper Mohamed El-Shennawy had contracted the Corona virus, and he would miss the next match against Guinea in the qualifiers for the African Nations Cup, Cote d’Ivoire 2023.

The match between Egypt and Guinea will be held next Sunday at Cairo Stadium, as part of the qualifying round.


And the Football Association, through its official account on the “Twitter” website, issued a brief statement, as follows: “Egypt goalkeeper Mohamed El-Shennawy underwent a medical examination upon his arrival yesterday, Wednesday, to detect the Corona virus, and the result was positive, and the goalkeeper has been isolated in the residence hotel since yesterday.”

And he concluded: “The medical staff of the Egyptian national team conducted two new scans for the goalkeeper, and the results were also positive, and the technical staff of the team led by Captain Ihab Galal was notified of the player’s condition, and El-Shennawy did not participate in the training.”

After completing the match against Guinea, Egypt will travel to Malawi in preparation for meeting Ethiopia in the second round of qualifiers.
