This transfer is no surprise either.

After all, sports director Markus Krösche had already confirmed in his season balance sheet after Seville's coup in the Europa League that Aurélio Buta would very soon join Eintracht.

That time has now come.

The European Cup winner reported completion on Friday.

Right-back Buta comes from the club that Eintracht knows from previous group games in the very successful Europa League campaign: Royal Antwerp.

Buta's contract in Belgium expires at the end of this month.

The Portuguese has agreed a contract term up to and including June 30, 2026 with the Frankfurt club officials.

When Eintracht celebrated a last-minute 1-0 away win in Antwerp at the end of September last year, Buta, a 57-time youth international, was on the ball for Royal the entire game.

Buta was trained at Benfica.

In 2017 he was loaned from Lisbon to Antwerp, a year later it became a permanent business relationship.

The defensive player has made 128 appearances with the Belgians across all competitions to date.

As a goalscorer, Buta knew how to shine twice on his advances.

21 times he was the man who recommended himself as a preparer.

For Buta, who was born in Angola, the sporting highlight of his career so far was the cup victory in Belgium in 2020. "We trust Aurélio Buta with his skills and experience to become a permanent fixture in our team and to give our game even more impact," said Eintracht -Sports director Krösche in a club announcement.

“His numerous goal participations speak for themselves.

Aurélio combines speed and physicality as well as defensive reliability and offensive danger, so he brings a good overall package," said Krösche.

“We were able to convince ourselves of this in a direct duel.

At the same time, we are convinced that at the age of 25 he will have further scope for development.”

Buta is Eintracht's third free transfer signing for the new season alongside Croatian central defender Hrvoje Smolcic and Cameroonian-French central defender Jérôme Onguéné.
