Due to the war, Ukraine's playoff match against Scotland had been postponed for a long time.

Star Oleksandr Zintchenko described his feelings at an emotional press conference before the match.

And it was already apparent during the national anthem that there were strong emotions involved in the match for the yellow-clad.

But it was never really a talk.

A game-hungry Ukraine took the initiative against Scotland and created a hot chance already in the 17th minute.

The first goal came a quarter of an hour later.

Andrej Yarmolenko scored his 45th national team goal when he scored 1-0 for Ukraine in the 32nd minute, with a beautiful lob over home goalkeeper Craig Gordon.

And just three minutes into the second half also came 2-0 when Roman Yaremchuk put the ball in goal.

Scotland tried to force a reduction, but Ukraine stood up and responded with an offensive game.

But in the 78th minute, the reduction finally came.

Callum McGregor shot, and Ukraine's goalkeeper Heorhij Busychjan dropped the ball into goal.

But instead of a draw, Ukraine's Artem Dovbyk made it 3-1 and decided the match in stoppage time.

Now the playoff final against Wales on Sunday is waiting for a place in the World Cup group b, where the USA, Iran and England are waiting.
