In one of the four major tennis tournaments, the French Open mixed doubles quarterfinals, a pair of Eina Shibahara and Wesley Koolhof of the Netherlands defeated the Australian pair straight to advance to the semifinals.


It is the first time Japanese players have advanced to the semi-finals in the French Open mixed doubles since Ai Sugiyama in 2000.

At the French Open, on the 30th, a pair of Eina Shibahara and Wesley Koolhof of the Netherlands played against a pair of Australian Samantha Stosur and Matthew Ebden in the mixed doubles quarterfinals.



The pair of Shibahara and Koolhoff took the first set 6-3 and the second set 6-4, and decided to advance to the semi-finals with a straight win with a set count of 2-0.



It is the first time in 22 years that Japanese players have advanced to the semi-finals in the French Open mixed doubles since Ai Sugiyama teamed up with a foreign player in 2000 to win.
