Six men will be tried on Tuesday in Bobigny for thefts to the detriment of supporters in the chaos around the Stade de France during the Champions League final on Saturday evening.

The six individuals were the subject of the last police custody still in progress in connection with the confusion which surrounded the flagship match of European football, which saw the Spaniards of Real Madrid triumph over the English of Liverpool (1-0).

The Bobigny public prosecutor's office, competent for Seine-Saint-Denis where the Stade de France is located, had initially ordered the placement of 48 people in police custody on Saturday evening, including a "significant number" of minors.

With the exception of the six people sent back to the criminal court, all the other police custody have now been lifted.

No GAV linked to counterfeit banknotes

Among the defendants are three people aged 21, 26 and 39 prosecuted for theft in a meeting, found in possession of multiple mobile phones.

Two British victims were found and lodged a complaint but for 14 of the phones stolen their owners could not be identified.

A 25-year-old man will be tried for violently stealing a watch from a Mexican spectator.

Another 34-year-old will be for having snatched a collar from a British victim and having bitten the arm of his friend who was trying to intervene.

A last defendant, aged 24, is being prosecuted for the theft of a mobile phone on the platform of metro line 13 from a British supporter who was leaving the match.

"No police custody has taken place for facts related to intrusions or false entry tickets to the match", the two main reasons given by the French authorities to explain the malfunctions, the Bobigny prosecution said on Monday.
