Pitso Mosimane, coach of the Egyptian Al-Ahly club, said that the best team in the African Champions League final was the one who lost, and he refused to talk about details related to the playing plan or the squad due to the circumstances surrounding the match.

Yesterday, Moroccan club Wydad Casablanca won the African Champions League after beating Al-Ahly 2-0 in the final match that took place at Mohammed V Stadium in Casablanca, Morocco.

Musimani said - in statements carried by the official Al-Ahly club website yesterday evening - "When you play in a neutral ground and an equal audience between the two teams, then we talk about winning and losing. I think that everyone behind this decision feels happy today."

In reference to the match being held in Morocco, which sparked a lot of controversy over the past weeks.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced that Morocco was the only bidder to host the final match after Senegal withdrew from the last voting process.

Al-Ahly objected to holding the match at Wydad Stadium, and demanded that it be held in a neutral stadium, but CAF did not heed the protest of the Egyptian team crowned with the title 10 times.

Mosimane's plan

On the other hand, Musimani said, "Some people ask me about the formation and the plan because I lost, but I remind them that Al-Ahly beat Raja with the same formation. Everyone knows that Amr Al-Sulayya is injured, and that is why we did not push him from the beginning."

"Football depends on scoring goals. Percy Tau missed an opportunity and so did Mohamed Sharif."

Musimani congratulated the Wydad team and its coach, and said that he had no problem with the referee except for wasting time, especially in the second half, and saw that the referee was required to calculate more time than the four minutes he announced instead of the lost time, and justified this by stopping the match several times.

Al-Ahly failed to achieve an unprecedented achievement by winning the title for the third time in a row, and the Egyptian club had won the title twice in 2005 and 2006 before falling in the final against the Tunisian coastal star in 2007, and returned to achieve the same achievement in 2012 and 2013.
