The Fise (International Festival of Extreme Sports) once again exceeded the milestone of 600,000 spectators accumulated during its five days of programming in Montpellier.

A festival marked by the return of the public to the Hérault, three years after the last edition on the banks of the Lez before the interruption due to Covid-19.

“For the past three years, we wondered why we were doing this.

We had less meaning in our work.

We questioned ourselves, says its founder, Hervé André-Benoit.

This communion with the public is wonderful.

We are proud of what we have done”

The event, which is free, is the third in terms of attendance in France, after the Tour de France and the Vendée Globe.

The sun, the expectation of the public after two years of frustration, the atmosphere and the extremely high stage allowed its success.

The only false note came from a minority of thugs, on the sidelines of the festival.

After opposing the police overnight from Thursday to Friday, 150 of them forced their way into the Antigone swimming pool where they committed damage.

Record number of riders

"The public came in droves, it's with great pride, like the number of riders who had never been so numerous", concludes Hervé André-Benoit.

Including the best in the world.

The Fise supported five world cup events, but also marked the start of qualifying for the breakdance Olympics, for Paris 2024.
