Zlatan Ibrahimovic has had surgery on his left knee twice in just over eleven months, most recently last week and will be out for up to eight months, according to Serie A club Milan.

After the league victory, he talked about his problems.

For the past six months, I have played without anterior cruciate ligament in my left knee.

The knee has been swollen for six months.

I have only been able to train with the team ten times in the last six months ", he wrote on Instagram.

Even before the operation, the attacking star turned down Sweden's Nations League gathering, where the national team starts away against Slovenia on Thursday and then has three more matches in June.

- I have been quite clear about how the situation has been.

He is to me a fantastic athlete and football player.

Unfortunately, he has not been able to show his best due to injury problems, but what he has done on the side has been great, says national team captain Janne Andersson.

However, the door to Blågult is not closed.

Andersson does not know what the future holds and he does not want to "exclude anything" or "take something for granted".

- We will continue to keep in touch and then we will see what this leads to after his rehab, which will be a fairly long period in the future.

- It is very much up to him, how he handles rehab, how well it goes, if he comes back.
