The consortium formed in particular by Todd Boehly, co-owner of the Los Angeles Dodgers, and Clearlake Capital offers 4 billion 960 million euros for the London club.
An approval of the operation by the Portuguese government is still necessary, because the current owner of the club, Roman Abramovich, became a Portuguese citizen last year.
It is also subject to international sanctions.
Abramovich forced to sell for his closeness to Vladimir Putin
Forced to sell his toy following the war led by Russia in Ukraine, the Russian oligarch says he is proud that millions of people can benefit from the new charitable foundation he will be able to create with all this money.
Roman Abramovich
had no choice but to sell his club, his proximity to Vladimir Putin having pushed the English power to freeze all of his assets.
The Russian then promised that the money from the sale would be donated to a charitable foundation for the benefit of all victims of the war in Ukraine.
