Madelene Sagström went straight into the group stage and won the round of 16 against the American Emma Talley.

Every now and then, the 29-year-old seemed impossible to beat in the star-studded match play tournament in Las Vegas.

But already in the match after, the quarter-final against the South Korean Ji Eun-Hee, Sagström had finished playing.

The Swede did not reach the normal level of play and when Eun-Hee did the opposite - then the duel ended with the South Korean going on to the semifinals without losing a hole.

LPGA Match Play made its debut last year and is the only major match play competition on the American women's tour.

The star-studded starting field in Las Vegas would actually have contained another Swede, but Anna Nordqvist was forced to withdraw after becoming ill.
