Italian Alessando Covi won his first ever stage, and the team's first of the season, on Saturday when the 20th stage, between Belluno and Marabola, was completed.

Covi was alone in the lead and finished with a margin of 32 seconds to second Domen Novak, from Slovenia.

But behind these two took place the drama that could be decisive for the dissolution of the tour.

Australian Jai Hindley took away the overall lead from Richard Caparaz, from Ecuador, after going in as sixth.

Caparaz, in turn, became the river.

Hindley will now have 1 minute and 25 seconds to spare when the individual time cycling in Verona, the last stage, is decided on Sunday.
