Several media outlets, including the news agency AFP and the British BBC, report that there have been long queues and chaotic scenes outside the Stade de France in Paris.
AFP writes that police are said to have fired tear gas in connection with several people trying to get past the barriers and into the arena.
In connection with the regular kick-off time, 21.00, several seats in the arena were empty and there were still many ticket holders who still had not been allowed to enter the arena.
The European Football Association Uefa announced via social media that the match was postponed due to "security reasons".
But at 21.36 the match was finally kicked off.
