The organizers of the tennis tournament in Wimbledon no longer want to use the suffix Miss or Frau in the lists of former winners.

According to a corresponding report in the British newspaper "Times", a statement said that the names should no longer be preceded by "Miss" (Miss) or "Mrs." (Mrs.).

The change should therefore be implemented before the next edition of the lawn classic, which begins on June 27th in London.

Married players should also be able to use their own name instead of their husband's name.

This refers to Chris Evert, who was married to British tennis player John Lloyd and, as the 1981 champion, has hitherto been known as "Mrs.

JM Lloyd”.

For men, only the first letters of their first names preceded their surnames.

Since 2019, the referees have only called the players at the matches by their last names, just like the men, and no longer put any additional information in front.

This is also common practice in the other tournaments.

At the time, however, world number one Novak Djokovic was disappointed with this approach: "I thought that this tradition is very unique and very special;

I thought it was beautiful," he said.
