AIK's latest prestige signing John Guidetti is looking forward to making his first match for the club.
The 30-year-old, who has strong emotional ties to AIK, trained with the black and yellows in the summer of 2009, when he belonged to Manchester City.
He tells of two memories from that period.
- One was that Martin Mutumba said: "John, we'll see if you have the technology, you should juggle the ball all the way from the locker room to the football field at Karlberg (AIK's training facility)".
I managed it but then he said that it did not count because I only used my right foot and not every other, he says and laughs.
"They got pissed"
Guidetti looks back at another sequence.
- I also remember that we played small team games, then you play without offside.
Then I met Martin and Bojan (Djordjic) and my team won.
They got pissed because I fished at the front, he says with a smile.
But there is another AIK-related memory that has etched itself.
The striker reproduces a sequence from his younger days.
- I had a guy who worked at Råsunda who was a friend of dad.
He used to let us in at the matches, so we did not have to buy tickets.
"I responded 'wow'"
He looks at sports director Henrik Jurelius who is sitting next to him and gently, with a twinkle in his eye, apologizes.
- We used to get there five minutes after (match start) on "eastern" on Råsunda.
There used to always be a few places.
I remember going to a derby against Djurgården.
It was rumored that Stefan Batan would go to AIK, but then he went to Djurgården instead.
It started to sing "Stefan Batan is a ..." and then they said something shitty that I can not say here.
- But I remember that the whole arena stood and sang just that.
It was not so nice, but I kind of reacted "wow".
Sometimes I forgot to watch the football itself and stuck my eyes on the supporters for about 15 minutes.
There is something about Sweden, it is unique.
Guidetti comes most recently from Spanish Deportivo Alaves.
The contract is written for 3.5 years and the plan is to do the first training with the team on June 7.
The debut can come four days later, when AIK faces Molde.
The first Allsvenskan appearance can be against Kalmar at the earliest, on 17 July.
