He had been discreet in recent months but had reassured the supporters by appearing a few times in the stands.

A year after the announcement of his illness, the executive president of Stade Rennais Nicolas Holveck wishes to "temporarily step back to devote himself to the treatment of the disease", announced the club in a brief press release.

Arrived in March 2020 to replace Olivier Létang, Nicolas Holveck has been fighting cancer for more than a year.

Withdrawn since this announcement, the former manager of AS Monaco had initially announced that he would keep his duties.

His coach Bruno Genesio paid tribute to him during the presentation of the UNFP trophy for the best Ligue 1 coach.

And as you often tell me Nicolas, I know that you will win it”.

A sincere and benevolent thought towards our president Nicolas Holveck.

It's a tricky and complicated game but you will win it in the end.

You will never walk alone.

Cloarec takes over

In April 2021, a few weeks after the announcement of the president's illness, Olivier Cloarec arrived at the club as deputy general manager.

This Tuesday, the Breton became the new executive president of the Rennes club, which has just ended its season in fourth place, synonymous with qualification for the Europa League.

When he landed in Rennes in the spring of 2021, Olivier Cloarec had served for seven years as manager of Dijon, after experiences at RC Strasbourg, Stade Brestois, Vannes OC and FC Lorient.

A native of Pont-L'Abbé (Finistère), the leader officially takes over the reins of the Pinault family club.

Jacques Delanoë remains Chairman of the Board of Directors.
