Hansi Flick praised his German coaching colleague Jürgen Klopp from FC Liverpool before the Champions League final against Real Madrid in the highest tones.

"What Jürgen Klopp has achieved in recent years is fantastic," said the 57-year-old national coach at the national soccer team's training camp in Marbella about Klopp, who was three years his junior.

The former Bundesliga coach could win the Champions League for the second time this Saturday in the final in Paris against Spain's record champions and thus continue the current successful streak of German coaches in Europe's most important club competition.

In 2019, Klopp triumphed in the premier class with Liverpool.

In 2020, Flick won the title with FC Bayern Munich.

And last year Thomas Tuchel was successful with Chelsea in the Champions League.

Flick: BVB obligations "helpful"

"We are happy that we have such good coaches in Germany," said Flick on Monday evening in Spain.

The DFB head coach explains that the German coaches are so successful and set the tone, especially in Europe's top competition, with the "super coach education" in Germany.

Klopp just missed winning the English championship again with Liverpool last Sunday.

Manchester City, with national player Ilkay Gündogan scoring twice, secured the Premier League title in an exciting long-distance duel on the last day of the game.

Flick still doesn't see Klopp as a loser: "His team plays great football.

He had caught up so many points.

Back in January you thought the championship was going to be handed to Manchester City.” In the end, Liverpool finished second, a point behind Man City with coach Pep Guardiola.

Meanwhile, Flick rated the signing of several national soccer players by the championship runners-up Borussia Dortmund as helpful for his work and his goals with the DFB selection.

It is currently becoming apparent that BVB should have a second strong block in the DFB team in the coming World Cup season alongside the traditionally dominant record champions FC Bayern Munich.

"I absolutely welcome that.

The past has shown time and again that if you have two clubs that form a block, you can be successful with it," said the 57-year-old Flick.

BVB managing director Hans-Joachim Watzke had already indicated to him at the beginning of the World Cup year with regard to transfer policy "that they want to try to do one thing or the other," revealed Flick.

In Bayern defender Niklas Süle, Freiburg Cup finalist Nico Schlotterbeck and attacker Karim Adeyemi from Austria's champions Red Bull Salzburg, Borussia have already signed three national players and equipped them with long-term contracts.

"Having our top players in Germany also brings us a step further with a view to the tournament after next," said Flick, not only with a view to the World Cup in Qatar at the end of this year, but also in a further preview of the 2024 European Championship in his own country.

In the training camp in Marbella for the upcoming Nations League games against European champions Italy, the European Championship runners-up England and Hungary, Borussia Dortmund has the second largest contingent of players in the squad after FC Bayern, if you add the three newcomers Süle and Schlotterbeck to Marco Reus and Julian Brandt and Adeyemi is already one of them.
