Edin Terzic will succeed the dismissed coach Marco Rose at Borussia Dortmund.

The 39-year-old has a contract until 2025. BVB announced this on Monday.

"We held several intensive talks with Edin Terzic last weekend and are convinced that this personnel decision is the right one for BVB," said future sports director Sebastian Kehl.

"Edin knows our club, the environment, a large part of the team and knows what adjustments we want to make in order to be able to offer our fans successful football." BVB surprisingly agreed to work with Rose on Friday after just one year (Contract until 2024) ended.

Terzic, popular with fans, led Dortmund to the Champions League and DFB Cup victory in the 2020/21 season after Lucien Favre split.

He was then specifically declared technical director so that he would not constantly hover over Rose as an assistant coach.
