FIFA President Gianni Infantino said that the number of spectators for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar is expected to reach about 5 billion people around the world.

Infantino spoke in a panel discussion at the World Economic Forum in the Swiss resort of Davos on Monday, and said that the previous World Cup - which it organized in Russia during 2018 - was watched by more than 4 billion people, and the World Cup for women's football was watched by 1.2 billion people.

He added, "5 billion people will watch the World Cup in Qatar, and this number will greatly exceed the number of half of the world's population," and this number includes fans in stadiums and viewers on television screens and in public viewing areas.

The 2022 World Cup in Qatar will start from November 21 and will continue until December 18.

Infantino expected that the next edition of the World Cup would be "the best ever" and would contribute to "unifying the Arab world".

The FIFA president quoted the late South African President Nelson Mandela saying that sport has the power to change the world, and Infantino said that Mandela "was right in that, of course," noting that football is the most popular sport on the globe, and that everyone feels that "football is the This unifying element.
