Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp said losing the English Premier League title on the last day of the season gives his team an extra incentive ahead of the Champions League final.

The Reds came from behind to beat Wolverhampton 3-1 at Anfield on Sunday, but Manchester City also rose up to turn their backs down to win 3-2 against Aston Villa to retain the league title.

Liverpool, who have already won the League Cup and the FA Cup this season, are looking to add a seventh title to their Champions League record when they face Real Madrid next Saturday.

Klopp told reporters, "This season is very amazing and it will not end today, and it is clear that it will end next week, we have 5 days to prepare for the final and that is what we will do."

The German coach congratulated City and coach Pep Guardiola for winning the title for the fourth time in 5 years.

"I'm proud but I'm disappointed of course, there are worse scenarios, if you're ahead by a point and you don't take advantage of that looks worse .. I congratulate Manchester City, Guardiola, all the staff, the players and the whole club, our team was close, but it was not close enough."

Liverpool and the Spanish champions meet in Paris in a repeat of the 2018 Champions League final in Kyiv, when Real won 3-1.
