Manchester City won the English Premier League title for the fourth time in 5 seasons, after overturning a two-goal deficit to win 3-2 at home to Aston Villa on Sunday.

City won their ninth title since Pep Guardiola took over as coach in 2016.

Guardiola became one of the most successful coaches in general in the life of the Premier League after Sir Alex Ferguson.

Ferguson won 13 titles during his time with Manchester United.

Guardiola also became the most successful non-British coach in the Premier League, with a record number of Premier League title wins.

With the addition of this title, the Manchester City coach surpassed Arsenal's French coach Arsene Wenger and Portuguese Jose Mourinho, who won three Premier League titles each.

Guardiola is equal with four titles with another Scottish coach, Kenny Dalglish, who won the title three times with Liverpool, along with one time with Blackburn Rovers.

Guardiola is one title behind former Manchester United coach Matt Busby, and two titles by six-time champion Bob Paisley with Liverpool.

Guardiola won the league title ten times in 13 seasons in the top category of the competition during periods of work in Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Manchester City.

City's success was achieved thanks to its victory in 12 consecutive matches from November 6, 2021 to January 22 last.

The team lost only 3 matches throughout the season, scoring 99 goals.

City won the title despite the lack of an explicit striker among its ranks, after failing to sign Harry Kane from Tottenham.

Kevin De Bruyne was City's top scorer with 15 goals, while winger Raheem Sterling scored 13 goals.

Jack Grealish was the only major addition to City that won the title last season, joining the team for a record deal of 105 million pounds ($131 million) from Aston Villa.

Although he started 22 games, Grealish disappointed, as he did not have a significant impact on the team, commensurate with the record he set as the most expensive player in the Premier League, with Guardiola sticking to his usual method similar to last season.

Winning the title will relieve the pain of City's exit against Real Madrid from the semi-finals of the European Champions League, which ended Guardiola's dream of leading the team to the title of the most famous continental club championship.

City advanced from the second minute of the first leg until the 90th minute of the return match in Madrid, but lost in extra time to bid farewell to the tournament, defeating 5-6 on the total score.
