Salah receives a shock .. and City's star is the best in the English Premier League
The English Premier League announced the selection of Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne as the best player for the 2021-2022 season today, in what may be considered a shock to the ambitions of the Egyptian star and Liverpool and Premier League top scorer Mohamed Salah.
De Bruyne won the award for the second time after receiving it after the 2019-20 season.
The Belgian player scored 15 goals and contributed seven goals in 29 games this season, and was one of the reasons for the success of City, which needs to win in the last round tomorrow to win the league title for the sixth time.
The 30-year-old competed for the award with others, including his colleague Joao Cancelo, Liverpool striker Mohamed Salah, the current league's top scorer, and Tottenham Hotspur striker Son Heung-min.
"There is huge potential in the Premier League and I am delighted to be nominated with so many other great players who have had a great season with their clubs," said De Bruyne.
"I think my performance this season has been good, and I'm happy that I was able to contribute to the goals and assists during the season."
Earlier today, City's Phil Foden won the Premier League's Young Player of the Year award for the second year in a row.
