Day three of the 104th PGA Championship in Tulsa was not Tiger Woods' day.

The 46-year-old golf superstar from the USA only played a weak round of 79 on the difficult par-70 course at Southern Hills Country Club on Saturday and will therefore fall far behind in the overall standings.

Woods, who had already played in pain on Friday, made too many misses - he even had to note a triple bogey on his scorecard.

On the sixth fairway, a par 3 almost 200 meters long, the 15-time major winner even needed six strokes to sink his ball into the hole.

The day before he had qualified for the two decisive rounds of the weekend thanks to an energy performance and a round of 69 strokes.

For Woods, it is only the second PGA tournament since his serious car accident in February 2021. You could tell that after the long period of suffering he still lacks competition practice.

The fact that numerous other stars such as world number one Scottie Scheffler (USA), Dustin Johnson (USA), Sergio Garcia (Spain) and Adam Scott (Australia) were eliminated early after only two rounds shows how high his performance is.

The two German golf pros Martin Kaymer and Alex Cejka clearly failed to make the cut in Tulsa.
