Mbappe ends the controversy and decides to stay in Saint-Germain with a record salary

French sports newspaper L'Equipe said today that French international striker Kylian Mbappe has decided to extend his contract with his current club, Paris Saint-Germain, the French Ligue 1 champion.

Reports stated that Mbappe, whose current contract with the French champions expires at the end of the current season, may join Spanish champions Real Madrid.

L'Equipe confirmed that Mbappe has not yet signed the new contract with Saint-Germain, which is expected to continue the link between the two parties until 2025, with a record salary that may approach seventy million euros per year, in addition to very many unprecedented temptations in the history of the ball presented by the management of the Qatari-owned club.

The 23-year-old, who is considered one of the most prominent emerging talents and led France to win the 2018 World Cup, was a candidate to leave on a free transfer after the end of the current season.

Saint-Germain signed Mbappe from Monaco in 2017 in a deal that the media speculated to be worth about 180 million euros, making him the second most expensive player in the history of the game after Neymar, who moved from Barcelona to Saint-Germain for 222 million euros.

Real made an offer to sign Mbappe last year, but the rejection came from Saint-Germain, who seemed to lose the player at the end of the season without benefiting.

Last year, it was reported that Real offered St Germain about 200 million euros for the French striker.

Saint-Germain did not want to sell the player in the hope of winning the Champions League, but the French giant left the continental competition from the round of 16 against Real after a sudden collapse in the second half of the second leg.

Saint-Germain supported his ranks last year and included Lionel Messi from Barcelona, but, with the exception of winning the local league, he did not win any other title.

Nevertheless, Mbappe grabbed the spotlight individually, scoring 36 goals and assisting 26 assists with Saint-Germain in all competitions during the season.
