Rubin Kazan and Arsenal Tula finished 15th and 16th respectively at the end of the 2021/22 season and were relegated to the FNL.

Khimki will play with SKA-Khabarovsk, and Ufa with Orenburg in play-offs for the right to remain in the RPL.

The play-offs are scheduled to take place on 25 and 28 May.

The final decision on the expansion of the RPL will be made at a meeting of the executive committee of the Russian Football Union (RFU) on May 24.

Earlier, the Secretary General of the RFU and the President of the FNL, Alexander Alaev, spoke out against the expansion of the Russian Premier League.
