AFC President Salman announced that he will participate in the new AFC Presidential election next year and seek re-election.

  Salman, who took over as AFC president in 2013 after former AFC president Harman was embroiled in a corruption scandal, was elected as the only candidate in 2015.

In 2019, Salman was re-elected, and his current term will end in 2023.

If re-elected, Salman will be in charge of the AFC for more than a decade.

  The 33rd AFC Congress will be held in Bahrain from February 1 to 2, 2023, when a new presidential election will be held.
