The allegation of 'gap-jil' by the former coach of the marathon national team A, which was known to have been exposed by the victim, turned out to be true, and a disciplinary procedure was initiated.

According to the results of SBS coverage, the Sports Ethics Center recently held a deliberation committee and said, "It is recognized that coach A has not fulfilled his duties as a leader, such as insulting players and violating physical freedom and personal rights." “I asked for disciplinary action from coach A,” he said.

As a result, while the management agency initiated the disciplinary process, the subject of disciplinary action, Director A, concurrently serves as the head of the agency, raising controversy over fairness.

This is the so-called 'self-discipline'.

During the training ban period, forced labor, verbal abuse, neglect of injuries, etc.

The abuse of coach A recognized by the Sports Ethics Center as true is (1) verbal abuse, (2) violation of physical freedom and personal rights, and (3) neglect of injuries.

In the investigation, the victims claimed that "in April-May 2020, when camp training was banned due to COVID-19, they were forced to work unfairly at coach A's villa in Goseong, Gangwon-do."

It is said that four male athletes had to sleep in a narrow room where only one bed could fit, and they were forced to work unrelated to land, such as instructing them to cut down firewood at the site of a fire in Goseong, which suffered heavy forest fire damage.

In addition, coach A insulted his personality by saying, "If you're going to do something like that, run with a woman after having sex reassignment surgery," and accusations of denigrating a player with a tattoo as a 'thug' followed.

There was also a claim that he neglected the injury by scolding the injured player, "Why do you go to the hospital because of what you did?

When it was revealed, they demanded compensation for '100 million won'...

"I can't admit the allegations."

In the summer of 2020, after the extreme choice of the late Sook-hyeon Choi, a promising triathlete, the victims reported the leader's 'gap-jil' to the wiretapping, etc.

When nothing had changed, he continued to expose through a petition to the Blue House, but Director A completely denied the allegations.

Together with coach B of the same unemployed team, they filed a civil lawsuit accusing the victim of damaging their reputation.

Regarding the field training, he said, "In a situation where the training fee is not paid, I tried my best like my parents by providing my house as a place to stay and making and providing food with my own money."

Regarding the insult, he denied that "I did not know the term 'gender reassignment surgery' at the age of 70, and I have never said such a thing," and demanded compensation of '100 million won'.

Disciplinary proceedings commence…

Controversy over fairness of 'self-discipline'

The Sports Ethics Center, which started the investigation in earnest last summer, notified the results after eight months.

However, the sleepless nights of the victim have been going on for the second year in a row.

The victim said, "Even after being dismissed from the national team, coach A continued to serve as the president of the regional athletics federation. His influence on the region and the athletics world is huge. It is questionable whether fair disciplinary action will be made in the federation."

He continued, "When I received the complaint, I only thought that I wanted to die. I am the victim, and I was told to compensate 100 million won, which is more than double my annual salary.

The federation decided to open the Sports Fair at the end of this month, but it is unclear whether it will be held properly.

Coach A protested, "I am the federation president, and I can report the result by saying 'there is no problem'" and "I cannot accept any part."

He said, "I have the honor of running my whole life to advance the marathon," and he filed an injunction with the court to suspend the disciplinary proceedings.

When the issue of fairness was raised, a representative of the Korea Sports Association said, "It may be controversial to deal with the disciplinary action of the head of the affiliated group by the Fair Trade Commission."
