Swedish NHL pro Carl Hagelin has not played hockey since he got a club in the eye during a training session with the Washington Capitals in early March.

The blow took so badly in the left eye that the choroid burst.

Two operations later, the 33-year-old, who has one year left on his contract with Capitals, now states that his vision will never be one hundred percent again.

- The doctors considered whether to remove the eye.

I'll do my best to get back to next season, I've still gone through two procedures so far.

The last one was almost a month ago and I am still recovering from it.

So it's hard to say how it will end.

I try to be positive and optimistic about coming back and playing next season, says Hagelin at a press conference.

Washington's season ended earlier this week after a draw against Florida in the first round of the playoffs.
