Eight-year-old Clementina from Brescia wanted to play with the neighborhood boys' team, but it turned out well, as she was told by her aunt.

 - You're a girl and they do not want to be with you, Clementina was told.

She has dreamed of playing football and is happy to finally be part of it.

-I got angry and also a little sad at the same time.

Because I often used to go and watch their matches and I always thought "one day I will play there".

But then in the end they shut me out.

Italy has always been a great power on the men's side, even though they have now missed two World Cup finals in a row - with a European Championship gold in between.

The Italian women's national team is also strong despite the lack of breadth in the business, something they are trying to change from the top spot.

The goal is to create more more girls' teams

 - Women's football has two problems: firstly, it used to be seen as something only for men.

Then we have better understood that there are lots of girls who want to play - and who are very good as well.

The second problem is where we as a union must help in every way to create opportunities.

Clearly, it is important to create more girls' teams in several amateur clubs around the country, and that is our goal, says Ludovica Mantovani, head of the women's section of the Italian Football Association.

Alice Pignagnoli is the goalkeeper of FC Cesena.

She has continued her career after giving birth to her daughter Eva.

She believes in an improvement for women's football.

- I think that in ten years there will be a lot of mothers who play football.

When one of my matches is over and my daughter Eva runs onto the pitch for me, it's the best thing in the whole world for me.
