If Manchester City had won today's away match against West Ham, they would probably have been able to afford to lose the last league match, at home against Aston Villa, by a couple of goals.

But there were "only" crosses in London, which means that City may actually have to win the series final.

Early acknowledgment in others

Although they dominated the first half overall, it was the home team West Ham who led after 45 minutes, thanks to two goals by Jarrod Bowen.

But already after just over three minutes of play of the second half, Jack Grealish equalized on a volley shot, and 20 minutes later it was equalized after Vladimir Coufal nodded the ball in his own goal.

Mahrez missed the penalty

Here and there, most people probably thought that Manchester City, who got an increasing liking for West Ham's goal the longer the match went, would also set a third goal.

But that did not happen.

Even when Riyad Mahrez stepped up to the penalty spot in the 86th minute, it was 3-2, when his penalty was saved by West Ham goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski.

Thus, City currently leads the league with four points, as only one match remains for them.

Title rival Liverpool, however, has one match less played.

City, however, right now, also seven goals better goal difference than Liverpool.
