Dutch professional cyclist Koen Bouwman has won the seventh stage of the Giro d'Italia.
In the final sprint of a quartet, the 28-year-old from Team Jumbo-Visma prevailed in Potenza on Friday in front of his compatriot Bauke Mollema (Trek-Segafredo) and the Italian Davide Formolo (UAE Team Emirates).
In fourth place, Bouwman's teammate Tom Dumoulin completed the Dutchman's excellent result on the 196-kilometer stage with four climbs.
Mollema launched the decisive attack around 8.5 kilometers from the finish.
Lennard Kämna (Wedel/Bora-hansgrohe) finished sixth, 2:59 minutes behind the peloton, but lost his mountain jersey to stage winner Bouwman.
In the overall standings, Kämna remains second.
The Spaniard Juan Pedro Lopez (Trek-Segafredo) still wears the pink jersey for first place overall.
Kämna is 38 seconds behind.
The eighth stage on Saturday, starting and finishing in Naples, is 153 kilometers long.
Among other things, a 19-kilometer circuit with a few climbs has to be completed four times.
The Giro ends after 3410 kilometers on May 29 in Verona.
