It only took two jumps - then Armand Duplantis had secured the victory in this year's first Diamond League competition.

The Swede managed 5.61 and 5.81 at the same time as the competitors lost one by one.

Behind Duplatis, KC Lightfoot, USA, finished second and Ben Broeders, Belgium finished third.

They tore out, just like the four and five, at 5.71.

A superior Duplantis easily passed 6.02 but then tore out at 6.12.

Thus, the 22-year-old was a good distance from his own world record of 6.20.

The competition in Doha was intended to be Duplanti's outdoor premiere.

However, due to strong winds, the competition was postponed one day and decided indoors.
