For the first time, the European Football Association Uefa has a sustainability mindset around the European Championships and matches will be played in three clusters - the north with Berlin, Hamburg and Leipzig as venues, the west with Dortmund, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Gelsenkirchen and Cologne and the south with Frankfurt, Munich and Stuttgart.
Matches in each group should only be played in two clusters, to reduce the travel for the teams and supporters and encourage the teams to travel by train or bus from their base camps to the match arenas instead of flying.
