The 24-year-old joined Wolfsburg in the spring of 2021 after taking the Swedish Championship gold with Kopparbergs / Göteborg (now BK Häcken) the previous autumn.

That season Wolfsburg lost the title, when Bayern Munich won the league, but this season the club fought back despite major changes in both staff and player squad.

- It was huge of course.

For its part, it was the first league title in Germany.

It was important for the club too, to take back the title after last year, we were not happy to come second then.

It was very nice, very fun and well deserved, says Blomqvist to SVT Sport.

How does the German championship title compare to the Swedish Championship gold from 2020?

- Yes you.

A Swedish Championship gold is the biggest thing you can win in Sweden so I am very happy that I have both now, says Blomqvist with a laugh.

"Always want to be there"

The striker has not been in the squad for the last three matches in the league, after injuring his ankle in connection with the semi-final of the Champions League at the end of April.

- You always want to be down there on the pitch, in a decisive match as well, but I trusted the team and still sat and enjoyed there in the stands, says Blomqvist.

When she sums up the season, she says that one of the highlights has been to see the team's ability to come together, especially during the last six months, after having had a tough time last autumn.

- The season has contained most things, but it's cool when you are the winner in the end.

"Wish I could play more"

And for my own part?

Blomqvist has played in 15 matches, even though the performances have sometimes not been that long.

In these, she has been noted for four goals and three assists.

- I have an incredibly big competition down here, it is difficult, but I am very comfortable in the team and with everything around, so in that way I have found my role.

Of course, I wish I had been allowed to play even more, she says.

But it is also good with competition, she states.

- We encourage each other.

When the competition is "fair", we are a team and want us to perform as well as possible, I see nothing negative with that.

Then it is clear that most players want to play 90 minutes, but for me it feels important with the competition as well.

Wolfsburg play the cup final against Potsdam on 28 May.

Then Blomqvist hopes to be back on the field.
