After a short party with the championship trophy, the Munich series champions quickly looked ahead to the coming season.

“I totally believe in the team.

We love these guys," enthused Bayern Munich's sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic after a mixed performance by the champion in a 2-2 (2-1) win in the Bundesliga's last home game of the season against VfB Stuttgart.

“These are great guys.

And they will step on the gas next year,” assured Salihamidzic.

The sports director could not say with which squad this will happen and whether world footballer Robert Lewandowski and national player Serge Gnabry will extend their contracts.

"Of course we still have a few construction sites to close in the squad," said coach Julian Nagelsmann thoughtfully, "that's work, but we'll do it."

With only a short time of exuberant togetherness in the fan curve, where the supporters were allowed to celebrate the rare experience of the championship trophy in their hands, the draw against the Stuttgart team, who were hoping for direct rescue in the relegation battle, briefly faded into the background on Sunday evening.

"That feeling when you make it is always the same - regardless of whether it's the first, second or tenth championship," said vice-captain Thomas Müller.

After a once again masterly season, but disappointing results in the Champions League and DFB Cup, Müller didn't want to "take part in doomsday scenarios", as he emphasized.

Rather, he said defiantly: "No one has to worry about FC Bayern." But no one in the Munich celebration delegation wanted to announce an attack on Europe's crown.

"We'll see what we can do based on the financial situation," said Salihamidzic.

"We're all happy about that"

The contract with Müller was extended until mid-2024.

National goalkeeper Neuer should follow.

"The talks are going quite well," said the captain at DAZN.

There is no hurry.

The future of Lewandowski and national player Serge Gnabry, on the other hand, remains uncertain.

"We'll have the talks.

We've led a few.

And now we'll see what happens," Salihamidzic remarked to Lewandowski.

The contract runs for another year.

"Lewy knows, I think, what he has in the club and what he has in us.

The club has made it clear that they will definitely play for us next year.

We're all happy about that," said Leon Goretzka.

Salihamidzic had recently ruled out a farewell to the goalscorer this summer.

He said to Gnabry: "We have limits.

We try to offer the best for every player.

And that's why it's up to him to decide.

The boy is great.

I like him very much and would very, very much like to keep him here.” There is currently no question of “setting deadlines”.

Goretzka campaigned for an extension of Gnabry's contract in Munich: "Serge is an outstanding player, a very important component in our team, too," said Goretzka.

He hopes “of course an extension from him”.

Salihamidzic pointed out the financial challenges that had been increased by the loss of income during the corona pandemic.

"We don't have an infinite amount of money.

We have extended some contracts.

We tried to keep the core of the team," said the 45-year-old: "We'll see what we can do based on the financial situation." He again ruled out signing BVB striker Erling Haaland.

"We certainly don't," he said.
