Brighton crush Manchester United and end their hopes of qualifying for the Champions League

Brighton & Hove Albion crushed Manchester United 4-0 in the English Premier League, and completely eliminated their hopes of qualifying for the Champions League next season on Saturday.

This is the fifth consecutive loss for United away from home after appearing again modestly.

Brighton, on the other hand, won their first home win since last December.

With this result, the sixth-placed United failed to qualify for the Champions League, as it is five points behind fourth-placed Arsenal, before playing its last game of the season.

Brighton, who is trying to finish the season in the top half of the table for the first time, is in ninth place, five points behind the European Conference League qualifier, and before playing the last two matches.

Brighton captain Louis Dunk said: "This is an exceptional day. This is a top-class opponent and we have disappointed our fans at home this season, so this is a great moment."

Moses Caicedo opened Brighton's goals with a long-range shot after 15 minutes of starting, to score his first ever goal for his club.

Mark Kokoria added the second goal after the break with a massive shot from the left side, making the score 2-0.

Pascal Gross scored the third goal with a powerful shot against David de Gea, before Leandro Trossard finished the goals.

Brighton continued to create chances against United's mediocre defense, but could not win with a bigger score.

United tried to reduce the difference, but Brighton goalkeeper Robert Sanchez saved more than one dangerous attempt on goal.

United put the ball into the net by substitute striker Edinson Cavani, but the goal was canceled by the referee due to offside.

United have conceded 56 goals in the Premier League this season, the team's worst record in a single season in the competition.

United midfielder Bruno Fernandes said, "That's how the result went. It's not good at all. They beat us. They had a solution all the time, pressed us better and deserved that result."

"The opponent deserved to win, and we deserve to be in the position we are in now," the Portuguese midfielder added.
