The infection became a fact when the crew arrived in France.

Then one of the horses, from von Eckermann's and Evelina Tovek's stable, got a fever.

"Considering the rules that exist to prevent infection, that horse, and also the other three, were then put in isolation.

They also took a quick test in the nose of the horse that had a fever and that test came back positive for EHV 2 today ", says national team veterinarian Rasmus Westgren to the Swedish Equestrian Federation's website.

The virus should be an unusual variant of herpes, with low-grade symptoms.

It is not as contagious as EHV 1 and EHV 4 and does not cause the same symptoms at all.

I'm not at all worried about their future but they are not allowed to start here ", says Rasmus Westgren.

Three of the horses are symptom-free and the horse that had a fever is now fever-free.

But there will be no competition anyway.

"The plan is for the horses to remain in the quarantine stable until further notice and then travel home during the weekend."

For the Swedish national team, Petronella Andersson, Angelie von Essen and Wilma Hellström will compete in this weekend's jumping competitions.
