It looked like it would be a dark night for Real Madrid in the second CL semi-final.

Loss of 3-4 in the away match against Manchester City - and 0-1 in the 90th minute of the return leg.

But then Rodrygo was replaced and it was still a Spanish evening.

The 21-year-old scored two goals and arranged extra time.

And once again this season, Karim Benzema stepped forward and decided on penalties.

Carlo Ancelotti saw his team's strengths and sacrifices when Real were ready for the CL final against Liverpool.

- It takes a little luck to win a match like this.

City are a good team and it was a tough match.

But we never gave up, he said at the press conference after the match.

The Champions League final will be played on May 28 at the Stade de France in Paris.

And there awaits a Liverpool that the Real coach is familiar with.

- I am really happy to be ready in another final, against a fantastic team like Liverpool.

I played against them in a final in 1984 and then as a coach in 2005 and 2007. I lived in Liverpool for two years and this will be a bit like a derby for me because part of my heart belongs to Everton.

"Tough for us now"

For last year's finalist Manchester City, it was a tough end to an otherwise successful season.

And Pep Guardiola looked resigned when he met the press.

- We need time now but we will get up.

The players gave everything and we were so close.

But we did not succeed.

And history shows us that things like this can happen in sports.

The Frenchman Benzema became one of Real's match heroes with his penalty decision in extra time.

And City's coach could not look at the penalty.

- I did not look at the punishment.

It's tough for us now.

We did not succeed in taking this to goal.

The players are sad.
