Just over a year ago, HV71 left the SHL, after 35 years in Sweden's highest ice hockey league.

But the team had to keep many leading players, and has throughout the year been the favorite to take the step back immediately - something they did tonight after a dramatic sixth final in Umeå.

"Am so damn happy"

One of the players who chose to stay was Simon Önerud, who tonight had to celebrate his promotion as HV71 captain.

- Indescribable!

I'm so damn happy and proud of every old man on the team, he says to C More, where he admits that it's been a tough year at times:

- It has in a way been a hell this season.

I had to operate on my thumb, and then just before the playoffs, the meniscus tore and pulled the cruciate ligament.

I've had a war going on and trying to do the best I can all the way, so it's so fucking nice now that it's done.
